Seven

I was busy yesterday, and now it's 10 minutes to 7:00 and I must shower before getting into my street attire, so I will quickly run down for you the pressing highlights of my life. Which I'm sure will matter deeply to you.

1. I just tried to make an automatic numbered list and now it won't let me type next to it and have I mentioned I hate the new Typepad? It has been nothing but trouble.

2. Last Thursday, we were leaving day care and Tallulah jumped up and grabbed a crab toy off the table. She has never done this, so I bought her the toy. It is purple and it crinkles so that whenever she is playing with it in a different room, I think that she has somehow found a shopping bag. The crab is my astrological symbol. Do you think she knew this when she picked it up?

3. I had blood work done at the doctor for a general physical and I am low in vitamin D. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I got prescribed vitamins. PRESCRIBED vitamins. Sometimes I am a freak.

4. I got the red dress that I bought to go to that wedding, so now J can sleep nights, as she has asked me about it in the comments 79,000 times. Yesterday I went to Belk and bought a red brassiere and I will take a picture of the whole getup in the hear future. I am thinking no necklace and big earrings. I am thinking of having my hair blown straight so one can SEE my earrings.

5. I also bought red nail polish yesterday, which I was able to do because I had the dress with me so I could really match the red. I never buy nail polish anymore because all one ever does is pick the color at the nail salon. So I just discovered Clinique no longer sells nail color. When did that happen? Also? Department stores are not currently into really red nail polish. They sell all these sort of muddy off colors. I do not wish to have Morticia Addams' nails. I am not attending a Cure concert. I realize these references make me 92 years old.

6. I had better shower now, as it is 6:57 a.m. and I must leave the house at 7:20. This isn't gonna be a good day for my personal appearance.

  1. Most of the people north of the Mason Dixon line are low on Vitamin D in the winter. It’s hard to get sunshine in your parka (except on the tip of your nose).
Also, Topamax is a Vitamin D depleter (FYI).

  2. Mary Ellen et al, I heard that a red bra works almost as well as a skin-colored one under your light-colored shirts. I’ve tried it and found it to work pretty well. Plus red is more fun.

  3. Yes, my hubby and I both are on prescription strength Vit. D. I read an article about research with D vs. flu shots with people in a nursing home and the D worked better than the shots. I’ll take a pill any day over getting a shot! We have been on the D for several months and it has made a difference. So don’t laugh until you try it, it might help. I read if you live north of Atlanta, GA you don’t get enough D during the winter. And our doctor is telling us we must get 15 minutes of unprotected sun each day. I can assure you it will be warm weather before I’m out there soaking up the sun!
I thought you were going to tell us you bought those yard sale shoes to wear at the wedding.

  4. Oh fer gawds sake, a RED bra? There are only two reasons to buy a red bra:
    1) to rev up your bed partner, and
    2) to wear over anything else you might be wearing (think Madonna)
    okay, one more:
    3) so the red wine spills won’t show
any other reason makes one a secret slut girl

  5. There is no picker-upper like a little bit of sunshine, and bright red toenails. Since we’re having a rare bit of sun over here, I should probably get off my butt and take my own advice!

  6. FYI: OPI nail enamel. OPI always has some gorgeous reds available, year round, along with their themed seasonal colors. Also, OPI does not chip. Ever. And I am a nail klutz of the first order.
Did you also buy the $2.00 tennis bracelet shoes at the church sale to complete your wedding guest outfit?

  7. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to MS. Get after it! I paint my toes blue – and I’m a geriatric momma. My husband thinks they are the color of corpse. HA!

  10. Interesting. I just heard a stat that traditionally during economic slumps, nail polish sales are up (lipstick too).
Regarding the crab: I was talking to an elderly neighbor about astrology, and when I asked her sign…she said she was feces.
    I lost it.

  11. Well, now that they have been poo-pooing vitamin E, i guess D is the new “it” Vitamin.
I met my grandnephew this weekend and got to hold him for a half hour. I really enjoyed our bonding time. We even had the sympatico heart beat thing going on.

  15. I too take Vit D. It helps you as you get older process your calcium. June if you have not had a bone density test done I highly recommend it.
    Hey Tululah has crabs…that slut.
Red nails…hum….A man once told me that women who wore red toe nail polish were hot to trot. I will be buried with red toenail polish.
Maybe a simple chain necklace something delicate. What do the earrings look like?

  19. Vitamin D is the new medical mantra. EVERYONE is low in vitamin D. My doctor told me I was way low last year and think he told your mother-in-law the same thing. You really don’t need a scrip for it. I buy the same crap at the drugstore and even remember to take it sometimes.

  20. Thank you for the red dress update since I haven’t slept a wink thinking about it.
A red brassiere! Ooh, la la. I bet Marvin thought it was for him being this close to Valentine’s Day. And on the subject of dark, muddy nail polish colors, I saw something about BLACK lipstick. Can you imagine if that gets on your teeth? nasty.

  21. June, you need to get you out in the sunshine! Best way to get Vitamin D. Of course, this sunshine deal means you can’t wear sunblock, at least for 15 minutes a day. Which means, of course, cancer, and wrinkles. Which necessitate further doctor visits. I don’t THINK it’s a conspiracy theory, but who knows?
Can’t wait to see the ensemble.
